This is an excellent, helpful and entertaining book. Even if you have thousands of miles under your belt, you will learn things that you will think of the next time you ride.It is not intended to be scary, but many things are talked about that need your undivided attention and much practice. As the book says, "you react in an emergency the way you were trained".This is a great book for all levels of riders and an enjoyable read.
The book is full of useful tips, and experience to help riders of any skill level avoid accidents on their motorcycle. I would encourage anyone riding a motorcycle to purchase this book or give it to a friend that you want to keep safe on a motorcycle.
Very good overview of how to ride well. Covers pretty much everything, and this or a book like it should be required reading. He is very no nonsense, and if you are one of those people who ride (and drive) like an idiot, you will likely be offended. For everyone else --> READ IT.
I'm sure there are some riders who need to made more aware of the risks, and have a healthy fear of the dangers. As a new rider, I am VERY WELL aware of the dangers of riding. I think if you are already nervous about beginning riding, this book may make matters worse. That's why I took the Rider Safety Course, as well as read books such as this one. It addresses all of the dangers well, but almost left me deciding that maybe bikes were just too dangerous. For me, I found the book "Motorcycling Excellence" to be a better book. More informative and in depth, and did a good job of making you aware of the dangers, but also building your confidence, and making you really want to practice and master riding skills.
This is a great book. Mr Hough is very thorough in his explanations and gives a lot of good information.
